Some Relationships SHOULD End.

Loyalty is a beautiful thing. But sometimes, self-love means knowing when it's time to walk away.

If properly expressing yourself and setting up healthy boundaries makes the relationship unmanageable, then it simply means that this relationship has run its course.

As much as we want to fight for certain relationships in our lives (and as much as we should make efforts to make the right relationships last even when there is disagreement or things that need to be handled appropriately), the truth of the matter is that sometimes we grow in different directions from the people in our lives.

When we grow in different directions, sometimes the conflict and contrast between the new versions of ourselves that we are each becoming make the relationship untenable, and that’s okay. It can be painful to recognize this at times, and it takes a lot of healing and emotional mastery to process, but it very simply is the case.

We can’t let our attachment to old versions of ourselves—or old versions of the people in our lives—prevent us from continuing to move forward in the direction of our most authentic and most healed selves.

This can be most challenging when it comes to romantic relationships.

While there is certainly something to be said for learning how to properly communicate and compromise in our relationships and working through issues, there are limits to how much we should be willing to adapt ourselves to fit into a dynamic that is no longer working.

Commitment and compromise can be beautiful things. But if you are changing yourself or holding yourself back to maintain a relationship that is no longer serving your growth and authentic self-expression, it is only going to lead to pain for both parties.

Relationships can come and go in our lives, and sometimes letting go and moving on is the healthiest thing you can do. When your self-worth and inner peace are not tied to validation from others or the need for a relationship, you will be more able to seek out the relationships that are best for you.
