Drop the Emotional Weight.
The unresolved emotional energy exists in the here and now.
Time to drop the emotional weight.
The body naturally knows how to purge and release emotions that are appropriate in the moment when something causes us pain. The problem is that - over the years - we start being hurt for performing those natural ways of purging (we're mocked for crying, betrayed for being vulnerable, rejected for being honest...), and so our bodies and our minds start building up defense mechanisms that prevent us from performing that purging.
Over time, the unresolved emotions that we are stuffing away in order to keep ourselves safe build up and those unresolved emotions - plus the defense mechanisms that we built up - are interfering with our lives in ways that we never stop to realize until we finally dive into this inner healing.
There's a core version of you that you left behind, somewhere in the past. And most people - when they try to recover that version - do it by trying to find and analyze the past traumas that created those painful emotions in the first place. But, it's not the memories and the traumas that need to be dealt with, it's very simply the unresolved emotions.
Think about it like this...
If you've put on 50 pounds over the last few years, there's no sense in spending time thinking about every burger you ate and every ice cream cone you scarfed down, hoping that - if you understand why you ate them and how the body stored that fat - the fat will melt away.
We don't need to focus on the past. We just need to build healthy patterns NOW that will help us stop putting on more weight and allow us to finally release the weight we've put on.
That is the emotional fitness training approach I use with my clients.
Let's not focus on the past. Your body is trying to help you heal and purge every day. We just need to stop being afraid of what the body is naturally trying to do and learn how to actively help the body do what it naturally knows how to do.
